How SKYNET works

A round that nets the drone

SKYNET munitions turn weapons your team already carries into counter-drone tools. On discharge, the round opens into a tethered web designed to foul a drone's propellers and bring it down.

  1. 01

    Load

Fits standard 2¾" and 3" 12-gauge shotguns, magazine-fed 12-gauge, 37mm and 40mm launchers, .45 ACP and .50 BMG platforms, with no modifications listed.

  2. 02

    Deploy

On discharge the round separates into multiple tethered projectile components that expand into a web-like structure.

  3. 03

    Entangle

The web is designed to entangle drone propellers, causing loss of lift and a controlled descent.

  4. 04

    Safe-Returned

On 12-gauge rounds, Safe-Returned Technology™ adds a parachute effect late in flight and slows the assembly on a miss to reduce collateral risk.

FAQ

SKYNET questions

What is SKYNET?

SKYNET is a family of counter-drone munitions from Maverick Tactical Projectiles, made in the USA. It covers 2¾" and 3" 12-gauge, magazine-fed 12-gauge, 37mm, 40mm, .45 ACP and .50 BMG rounds.

How does a SKYNET round stop a drone?

On discharge, the round separates into multiple tethered projectile components that expand into a web-like structure. The web is designed to entangle the drone's propellers, causing loss of lift and a controlled descent.

Which SKYNET round fits my weapon?

The 2¾" round fits standard 2¾" chambered 12-gauge shotguns, SKYNET MAG fits magazine-fed 12-gauge shotguns and the 3" round fits 3" chambered 12-gauge shotguns. For 12-gauge, a cylinder or improved bore and rifled choke is recommended. The 37mm, 40mm, .45 ACP and .50 BMG rounds fit standard launcher and weapon platforms for those calibers.

What is the difference between Lead and Zinc?

On the 12-gauge rounds, Lead runs at about 950 fps with an effective range up to about 420 ft. Zinc uses the Zuerillium lead-free alloy, runs at about 825 fps and reaches up to about 320 ft. On the larger calibers, Zinc is made for high-volume training and Lead for duty and operational use.

What is Twin-Shot?

Twin-Shot™ is a Lead-only 12-gauge configuration with two expanding projectile assemblies of about 24" and 14". It's designed for a higher chance of contact with moving targets, ground-to-air and air-to-air, with an effective range of about 350 ft.

What happens if a round misses?

Safe-Returned Technology™ on the 12-gauge rounds creates a parachute effect late in the flight path, and the projectile assembly is designed to slow during descent to reduce impact risk. Each round still has an initial ballistic hazard zone, so the shooter must identify the target and what lies beyond it.

How big is the web?

About 5 ft for the 2¾" 12-gauge Single, about 6 ft for the 3" 12-gauge, about 7 ft for 37mm, about 8 ft for 40mm, about 12 in for .45 ACP and about 18 in for .50 BMG.

Is there a minimum order?

12-gauge rounds come in packs, starting at 1 round for SKYNET MAG and 5 rounds for the 2¾" and 3" rounds. Minimum orders are 2,000 rounds for 37mm and 40mm, 5,000 for .45 ACP and 10,000 for .50 BMG.
